WHY:
Sometimes you just want to do something nice for somebody else. A friend for instance. Help because you can. Be a part of something, by contributing to it. Put your own mark on it and deliver something you are proud of. Show that you can do it and have the skills and passion for it. I do this for you, and that is in other words doing it for me as well. Because helping you is helping me grow. And of course, it was very much appreciated, which gave me one of the best feelings, love.
WHAT:
This is one of two matching trophies made for a coffee festival held in Oslo in 2017. They were handed out in the category Best coffee and to the winner of a coffee tasting competition. The design is based on Kaffikaze’s (a small design agency and founder of the festival) logo, but the material, dimensions and construction were a part of my own design.
HOW:
They are made from pine- and steel-remains form the workshops at my university. And are coated with Osmo wax to get the distinctive surface color. The plaques are spray-painted, and the negative spaces are engraved out with a laser cutter.
