WHY:
In a technology-based world which uses and embraces interactions between humans and electronic devices; a well functional world which effectively performs every little operation to the point by communicating trough a technological unit. We follow the development of technology almost as zombies, but for whom exactly? What will become of humanity, our inner thoughts and feelings? What seat will they be given in in this Hyperloop-train?
What is communication and why is it important? If you look at humans as individual islands, communication can act as the bridge between them. The importance of sharing thoughts with other people and to be present in the conversation through eye to eye contact, is now being replaced with scrolling through your endless Instagarm-feed and reacting to them with a simple "tap-tap". DELE DAYBED is designed to direct focus on creating and maintaining the good conversations and invite the users to communicate more and deeper.
WHAT:
DELE DAYBED is a combination between a daybed and tree ottomans or poufs. When assembled it is a soft and comfortable daybed. Its size is about 2 x 1,6 m and it is purposely intended to fit more than one person. DELE DAYBED can also be transformed in to a sitting group. When opening the elastic bands which hold the main shape together, smaller pieces can be detached and becomes individual poufs. The users can either choose to detach one part, which will give one pouf and a smaller daybed. Or they can open it entirely and three poufs are free to be used as preferred. They are big enough so the users can very different sitting positions and each individual pouf can fit more than one person. The poufs distinct form and shape creates natural seating options.
HOW:
DELE DAYBED is more than just a furniture. It is designed not only to be used, it is intended to encourage the users to communicate with each other. The unique split and shape will explode in a natural way, so the users intuitively face each other. Eye contact will increase the value of the conversation. The composition of DELE DAYBED creates a space which gives the users a feel of being present and a space for the real moments. All the different features DELE DAYBED provides is designed to involve the users to interact with the product and with each other. That is why it is perfect for a good conversation between friends or maybe a relaxing moment with a loved one.
